Dawn Evans

INNOVATIVE ARTISTS // SAG-AFTRA / AEA

Dawn Evans is a New York City-based actress, committed practitioner and explorer of all things wild, bold and connected. Hailing from Long Island and with family ties to the Bronx and Brooklyn, Dawn is a New Yorker through and through.

Dawn Evans shines especially bright, offering a convincing portrayal of a woman determined to turn her life around after years of disappointments.”

-Ben Verde, Brooklyn Paper (Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike)

“Lirio and Evans are both formidable as representatives of diametrically opposed views. But they make their characters human too. They are never symbols, always very real people with doubts and regrets alongside their convictions.”

-Paulanne Simmons, nytheatre-wire.com (Two Rooms)

Dawn’s versatility can be showcased in her diverse body of work, ranging from The Sopranos and Law and Order, to a myriad of short and indie films, to productions at Ensemble Studio Theatre of Youngblood's Asking for Trouble festival each fall. She has also done a wealth of commercial work including campaigns for AT&T and Pfizer. What has arguably made her proudest, however, is voicing multiple roles on the animated series The Wonder Pets, amassing acclaim from her dear nieces and nephews.

Prior to acting, Dawn competed as an amateur freestyle skier, joining the ranks of the top ten nationally ranked skiers, even landing cover stories in acclaimed sports publications. After an accident rendered her nearly unable to walk, Dawn reverted to what she knew best – connecting with others – working as a recreational therapist tasked with restoring both her clients and herself. It was this nuanced human connection that caused her to fall in love with acting and the theatre.

Dawn commits her complete and total self to everything upon which she embarks. Her desire to deeply touch others – be that friends, family or audiences of the screen and stage – is the truest essence of her commitment to her craft. Telling stories is, simply, inherent to her being, and is what powers each and every role.

Dawn keeps herself sharp within a community of actors helmed by the powerful teacher, actress and friend Deborah Hedwall. She did graduate acting work at NYU Tisch School of the Arts and studied Music and Business at NYU as an undergraduate. She resides on New York’s Upper West Side with her husband of over twenty years.
